Maplin UK Championship has reached the semi-finals stage.
After Stephen Maguire and Shaun Murphy qualified yesterday for the semi-finals, today it was Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Selby’s turn to get their tickets.
While Ronnie had an easy match against Jamie Cope, 9-2, Mark Selby needed 16 frames to get a 9-7 victory in front of Marco Fu. Maguire will meet Murphy in the first semi-final, while Ronnie O’Sullivan will face Mark Selby in what could be the most interesting match of the competition.

After an amazing match against France, Romania got the last ticket to the semi finals. The girls trained by Gheorghe Tadici won 34-31 the clash against a team who played in front of 13,500 supporters. After 60 minutes the score was tied, and it took 4 more extra times to separate the 2 teams. In the end the determination of the Romanians proved to be decisive, and they obtained the qualification.
Romania will face on Saturday Russia, in a rematch of 2006 World Championship. Last year, Romania lost 29-28 in the final against Russia, with a goal conceded a few seconds before the final whistle. In the other semi final, Germany will meet Norway.

Romania won their debut match at the Handball World Championship 2007. The girls trained by Gheorghe Tadici defeated China with 31-29 after the Asians were leading at half time with 16-15.
In the other match counting for group D played today, Poland defeated Tunis with 29-23.

Even though he changed his old Citroen Xsara with a C4, he managed to overpass second placed Marcus Gronholm by 6 points.
