Celtic in next round, Shakhtar at home

Even though the Scots lost their closing match on San Siro, the team managed by Gordon Strachan qualified for the next Champions League stage. Celtics obtained the qualification thanks to Benfica’s success in Ukraine. Cardozo scored twice for the Lusitans in the first part of the match, and Lucescu’s boys couldn’t score the 2 goals which could have taken them in UEFA Cup.

Williams sisters to play doubles again

Venus and Serena Williams have announced that they will be playing doubles at the first Grand Slam
of the year, the Australian Open, after not teaming up for five years.
Without ever playing enough to have a ranking, the two sister have always been a force to be reckon with.
The fact that they always needed a wild card to compete in doubles competitions didn’t stop them from winning 6 Grand Slam titles, two in Melbourne, two in Wimbledon, one at the French Open and another one on home ground at the US Open.
Together they have also won the doubles gold medal at the Olympic Games in Sydney.


O’Sullivan wins Premier League for seventh time

Ronnie O’Sullivan defeated John Higgins 7-4 in the final of PartyBets.com Premier League, to win the trophy for the 7th time in his career.

This is the 4th consecutive victory for Ronnie, who end here 9 months without any titles won. The success from Aberdeen brought Ronnie a total of GBP 83,000.

AC Milan - Celtic

Group D will be the first one to conclude, with AC Milan having to pack for FIFA Clubs World Cup in Japan. The last match from the group stage will bring to Milano a team who needs 1 point to qualify for the next stage: Celtic.

In the other match from Group D, Benfica will host Shakhtar. The options are very mixed up, and at this moment all teams beside AC Milan have chances to qualify for next UEFA Champions League stage, fall in UEFA Cup, or stay home.


Double for Ronaldo

Ronaldo managed to score twice in the game against Fulham, to make 40,000 Red Devils’ fans happy. The three points won today take Sir Alex Ferguson’s team on the second place, 3 points behind the leader, Arsenal.

In another match played this evening in England, Scunthorpe and Blackpool ended 1-1 in a match counting for the Championship day 20th. Blackpool gathered 20 points so far, and is 4 points ahead the last relegation place occupied at this moment by QPR.

In the last match from the 12th day of National Football League, Baltimore Ravens will host New England Patriots.

New england is the only undefeated team in 2007/2008 season, and they will try tonight to extend their winning streak to 12 games. The Ravens on the other side are on the 3rd place in the North Division with 4 victories and 7 lost matches. The Ravens’ last victory was on October 14th against St Louis Rams.
